Totalloy

This catameran's name is Totalloy. The name Totalloy sounds like the Philipino word which means to persevere or carry on. It also incorporates the names of my children, Allison & Lloyd as well as my previous business - Alloyd Marine & General Services.

In my front yard. Almost ready to float. Beautifull.

She is a Tiki 26 from the design book of James Wharram. Assembled, her length is 26 feet and  approx 4.3 metres wide. Build material is 6mm marine ply sheathed in fibreglass cloth & resin. The whole assembly is lashed with high tech rope (Dynema) allowing a certain amount of flexibility at sea. As you will notice she looks nothing like most cats of the day and the design philosophy behind her and other Wharram cats is worth looking into. Check out www.wharram.com

I acquired her end of 1999, already built but basically "Hull, Deck & Bulkheads" Initially, work on her progressed well but came to virtual standstill as I found myself spending 9 months of the year at sea. During the years the port hull suffered some degregation due to facing the predominant weather. Fresh water is the enemy of wood, causing wood rot that is insiduous and relentless. I am currently repairing this damage.
