About me
23rd April 2010
Hi there and welcome to this page.
As you already know, my name is Dave McFarlane, also nicknamed by some as Mac or Dawie or Mackie. At school I was known as Farty.
After school I qualified as a Fitter & Turner and then “went to sea” as a Marine Engineer. I am still in the Profession although I am now “shore based” and working on the harbour tugs in Richards Bay.
Many years ago I did ship repair work in Richards Bay trading as Alloyd Marine & General Services.
I also did general wood working as a sideline and got into the Wood Sign business operating as Crafted Wood Signs.
I turned 61 in February 2010 and have been married to Norma for 31 years.
We have two well behaved children, Allison - 29 and Lloyd - 26 who are both working and living in Richards Bay.
I have a passion for working with my hands and making beautiful things, especially carved wood signs.
I am also in the process of building a Tiki 26 Catamaran from the design book of James Wharram.
The picture below is of my preferred means of transport, a Madass 125 by Sachs Bikes. At the time of writing she is the only one in town and a real head turner.

Cute Hey!!
